"When making a knot in the end of your stitching thread, make a "slip" knot. When removing the knot, grab the tail. This gives you more thread to place in the needle when ending off. It also means you may park a knot in your thread anywhere, even the middle, if you will be needing it to stitch in an opposite direction from the one you are beginning with."
