Cross stitches are two stitches that cross diagonally at the center intersection point. These stitches make good background stitches and provide excellent canvas coverage.
Basic Cross stitches are usually worked over one canvas intersection. They can also be worked over multiple intersection points. These stitches can be made by stitching one arm of the stitch all the way across the row and then working your way back across stitching the second row.
The second method provides less distortion of the canvas and is created by completing each stitch before moving onto the next. You don't need to turn the canvas at the end of each row.
