Jo's Story
"There were five girls in my family. I’m second to the oldest. When I was about 8 years old, as I was growing up, my dad’s strict instructions to my mom before he left for work, not to let us go out of our yard to play when we were home from school. It was my mom’s job to keep us busy inside the house."

Christine M's Story
"I learned to needlepoint when I was about 38, from my wonderful late mother-in-law, Mary Maddux. She was an avid needlepointer, and made several beautiful things for our home, which we treasure. We would go to the needlepoint shop together, and she would invite me to select anything in the shop for her to stitch for us."

Michele's Story
"I am French and 63 yr old. When I was around 6, my grandmother and my mum used to show how to stitch, to embroider and to knit. It was the idea that a girl needed to be clever and a good wife, so we were taught to become housewifes, very good of course. Also because we were 3-4 children and sometimes noisy, my mother ordered to us to be quiet and gave to us a canvas, even to my brother!"
