Simple Birdhouse

Thursday August 28, 2008

I've been sorting through my favorite patterns from this past summer. Certainly on the top of my list, is the simple birdhouse pattern. It reminds me of the little birds that visit so often outside of my own home.

Hot, hot, hot!

Wednesday August 27, 2008

The long days of summer sometimes make me feel like I'm living in a dessert! Of course, I'm not, but it's funny to see the pattern ideas that spring from my head when I'm sitting in the heat.

If you love the heat, or maybe if you just like decorating with a southwestern theme, you'll appreciate the new cactus magnet pattern.

Last Days of Summer

Tuesday August 26, 2008

The last days of summer are upon us. I know that there are still some hot days in my future, but it's nice to know that the breeze that is blowing will soon bring the fall season into our area. I'm looking forward to cooler weather!

With that said, I will miss the summer months. We've made good memories and have had fun times. My favorite this year, was the week my mother delivered watermelon to my home, 20 of them, in fact. My whole house was excited! Watermelon is a summer favorite around here.

The watermelon bookmark is easy- even a beginner can tackle this project quickly. Stitch a delicious reminder of this year's summer season.

Do you know that there is an entire series of bookmark patterns on the needlepoint site? From winter snowflakes, to Christmas candy canes, there is one for any occasion that you need.

Chunky Numeral Magnets

Monday August 25, 2008

Shhhh! Don't tell my little ones...they spend many nights hard at work building letters and learning to read while I'm busy working in the house. The chunky alphabet magnets I stitched last year, are a favorite at my house and while they are busy having fun, they are also learning. I won't tell if you won't!

I thought the beginning of a school year would also be a great time to add a new pattern to the needlepoint site, this time, chunky numeral magnets. Now they can begin to learn more about numbers too! I love learning that is fun!

Wind Spinner

Thursday August 21, 2008

We love this time of year. Though the temperatures are still hot, hot, hot, there is more of a breeze flowing through the yard in the afternoon. We have wind chimes and wind spinners hanging from various trees out back- they are beautiful to watch and beautiful to hear. It's those little touches that make me enjoy home.

This is the first of three wind spinner patterns that I've been working on. This one was created in just one color of plastic canvas, but could be made out of any color you have in your stash, or two or three alternating colors (which would be really pretty).

It's a nice time of year to create something you can enjoy outdoors!

Are You Just Getting Started?

Tuesday August 19, 2008

All of us had to learn at some point. I first started needlepoint in middle school and by high school I had friends watching over my shoulder as I would craft plastic canvas pieces into things that could be used and enjoyed.

If you are new to needlepoint, we would love for you to join us in our little stitching community. Perhaps you need the basics, or maybe you are just beginning to assemble your tools and supplies, or you might be ready to begin your first pattern.

Where ever you are in this process, we are here to help! You can visit our forums, or email me with questions. We want to put you on the path to stitching success.
